While cruising is a popular way to see the world for many people, the travel format isn’t without its issues. From new changes to dress codes that are causing a stir to passengers being hit with a new wave of hidden fees, some cruise companies are feeling the heat. However, these concerns have been dwarfed by recent news about the rise of crime on board cruise ships in recent years.

According to The Week, crime on board cruise ships reached a two-year high in 2025, and the year isn’t even over yet. What is most concerning is the kind of crime that’s becoming most prevalent on ships. According to the FBI, which tracks cruise ship incident reports, sexual assault and rape numbers on cruise ships have risen over the past few years, across a range of different ships and companies.
