Book reviews by students published in journal

People in this story

Three of Dr. Madhavi Venkatesan’s students are now published authors in The Journal of International Women’s Studies.

The Journal of International Women’s Studies is an on-line, open-access, peer reviewed feminist journal that provides a forum for scholars, activists, and students to explore the relationships among theories of gender and sexuality and various forms of organizing and critical practice.

Lindsey Bressler (2018), Najla Al-Fardan (2019), and Sara Corey (2021) were all encouraged by Dr. Venkatesan to pursue their interest in gender studies by writing book reviews relating to feminism and female empowerment.

Lindsey Bressler, who graduated in 2018 with a BA in International Affairs reviewed Women, Insecurity, and Violence in a Post-9/11 World by Bronwyn Winter.

Najla Al-Fardan, who graduated in 2019 with a BS in Economics and Business Administration, reviewed For the Love of Men: A New Vision for Mindful Masculinity by Liz Plank.

Current undergraduate Sara Corey (BA Political Science/International Affairs) reviewed Feminisms: A Global History by Lucy Delap.
