Welcoming Interim Chair Michael Stone

We welcome Michael P. Stone, Teaching Professor of Economics, as the Interim Chair of the Department of Economics.

Professor Stone joined the Economics department at Northeastern in 2014 and in 2018, he received the CSSH Outstanding Teaching Award. He is a graduate of the University of Connecticut, where he received his J.D. in 2005 and Ph.D. in Economics in 2010. His research has appeared in International Review of Law and Economics and Contemporary Economic Policy, among other journals.

Over the last decade at Northeastern, Professor Stone has taught several thousand undergraduates in Principles of Microeconomics. He has also regularly taught other courses, including Law and Economics, which is his area of specialization.

We thank Robert Triest, Professor of Economics, for his tireless service and his steadfast leadership as the Economics Department Chair over the past six years. Fortunately, Professor Triest will continue to contribute as a senior faculty member in the department.
