Division: Department of Youth Engagement and Employment

Location: 1483 Tremont St, Roxbury MA 02120

Reports to: Youth & Career Development Coordinator

Status: Seasonal April 2022 – September 2022, 30-35 hours/week

Schedule: M-F, some weekends and evenings required

Salary: $18/hour

These positions will directly report to the Youth Career Development Coordinator. These positions are designed for motivated individuals with strong communication and organizational skills who are interested in the workforce development of young people. Self directed workers who work well in teams is a must.

Responsible for assisting in the implementation of the summer YouthWorks program across BCYF Community Centers and Non-BCYF Community Organizations. Assist in the delivery of Signal Success workshops. Support BCYF staff in facilitating 15 hours of Signal Success workshops for youth employees. Conduct site visits at community centers across Boston to ensure compliance with YouthWorks program implementation.

An ideal candidate for this department would:

  • Create, develop and support innovative and interactive workforce development trainings based on research, national trends, and feedback from youth
  • Support with the implementation of the Massachusetts mandated Signal Success curriculum and help monitor the Boss Up program participation
  • Research and stay abreast with current youth facilitation techniques and integrate proven methods into training curriculum to further enhance youth development and engagement
  • Assist in the oversight of Career Development Coaches, Leads & Specialists.
  • Co-Coordinate with DYEE Youth & Career Development Coordinator and the Senior Career Coach to ensure implementation of the summer YouthWorks program across BCYF Community Centers and Non-BCYF Community Organizations.
  • Assist data entry for YouthWorks reporting requirements as necessary
  • Support youth workshops and other activities
  • Support assessment and implementation of youth development and program efficiency outcome measures
  • Collaborate with team members
  • Mentor and support Boss Up program participants
  • Provide constructive feedback on Career Development initiatives
  • Participate in all facilitator training
  • Assist with career development program planning
  • Perform related work based on role focus and meet deadlines as required
  • Contribute to team conversations that would benefit by including partner collaboration
  • Take part in site visits and Pre & Post surveys


  • Current college student, graduate student or recent graduate preferred
  • Strong interest in youth development programs in Boston
  • Proficiency with computers and programs including Microsoft Office and Google Drive applications are required
  • Experience facilitating topics to young people
  • Ability to be moving for a majority of the day
  • Strong public speaking skills
  • Strong customer service/constituent skills required
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing and fast paced working environment
  • Attention to detail and good listening skills required
  • Must be a team player and have the ability to exercise good judgment
  • Good oral and written skills required
  • Experience interacting with young people of different cultures and backgrounds preferred
  • Interpersonal skills for effective communication
  • Driver’s license preferred but not required
  • Bilingual preferred but not required
  • Desire to work with the public and community organizations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic understanding of Boston’s non profit networks and organizations
  • Experience working with a non-profit organization is preferred but not required
  • Experience working with curriculum


  • Summer position with fall part-time opportunity based on work performance.
  • Summer Timeline: April 2022 – September 2022
  • Hours/Pay: Up to 30 hours per week, $18.00/hr
  • Some weekends may be required.
  • This seasonal part-time position does not provide insurance benefits
  • Boston residency required
  • CORI & SORI checks are required

Work Conditions:

General office work requirement is based on selected internship. Work conditions include but are not to be limited to working on a computer for an extended period of time, traveling for site visits, managing sensitive documents, using various types of software, managing data, communicating with management.
