Professor Bilge Erten recently presented new research at the NBER Children and Families Program Meeting (April 30, 2026), one of the leading conferences in development and gender economics.

The paper, “Learning to Harm: The Intergenerational Transmission of Gender-Based Violence,” examines how exposure to gender-based violence shapes outcomes across generations. Erten co-authored the work with Emily E. Nix (University of Southern California and NBER), Susan Niknami (Stockholm University), and Anna Sandberg (Stockholm University).

More information about the conference program is available on the NBER website.
