Cara Marta Messina (PhD ’21) Wins Outstanding Graduate Student Award in Humanics

Cara Marta Messina (PhD ’21) has been selected by Northeastern’s Office of the Provost for the 2021 Outstanding Graduate Student Award in Humanics. As noted in the call for nominations, “this award recognizes graduate students who, through their education, have integrated human literacy with data and technology in their learning or research.”

Cara successfully defended her dissertation, “The Critical Fan Toolkit: Fanfiction Genres, Ideologies, and Pedagogies” (directed by Professor Mya Poe) on March 25, 2021. She will begin a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of English (Professional Writing) at Jacksonville State University this fall.
