Anne Kingsley (PhD ’15) Wins Award for Excellence in Teaching

Anne Kingsley (PhD ’15) has won the California Community Colleges Hayward Award for Excellence in Teaching. This award honors community college full-time and part-time faculty who demonstrate the highest level of commitment to their students, college, and profession. Award recipients, nominated by their college academic senate and selected by representatives of the Academic Senate, must have a record of outstanding performance of professional activities, as well as a record of active participation on campus. Kingsley’s award bio cites her impressive record of working with formerly incarcerated students, returning/working students, and online peer mentors throughout her career in education.

Kingsley defended her dissertation, “‘A Poem Among the Diagrams’: Poetry as Archival Work in Muriel Rukeyser, Susan Howe, and M. Nourbese Philip,” in 2015 under the direction of Professor Mary Loeffelholz. Kingsley is currently a Professor of English and Faculty Distance Education Coordinator at Diablo Valley College.
