The History Project has honored K.J. Rawson with The Lavender Rhino Award, named after one of the early symbols of the Gay Liberation Movement. The annual award is given to an activist or organization whose current efforts are making history for the LGBTQ+ community. The History Project recognizes and celebrates Rawson’s tireless efforts to share transgender history and collections through the Digital Transgender Archive.
