Beth Reinwald

Part-Time Lecturer in English
In her teaching, Beth Reinwald seeks to help students translate what we do in the writing classroom outside the classroom space, to other classes and their lives in general – and to bring all of their personal contexts into the writing classroom.
She centers student contribution and feedback through a heavy emphasis on discussion and peer review, with the goal of asking students to make decisions about what and how they write, based on their rhetorical situation, rather than a “copy and paste” list of writing conventions. Her research interests include translation, early modern literature, drama, nationalism, and gender and sexuality.
In her spare time, she enjoys knitting, baking, and hanging out with her husband and three cats.

First-Year Writing
ENGW 1111
Designed for students to study and practice writing in a workshop setting. Students read a range of texts in order to describe and evaluate the choices writers make and apply that knowledge to their own writing and explore how writing functions in a range of academic, professional, and public contexts. Offers students an opportunity to learn how to conduct research using primary and secondary sources; how to write for various purposes and audiences in multiple genres and media; and how to give and receive feedback, to revise their work, and to reflect on their growth as writers.
