Postdoctoral Research Associate, Boston Area Research Initiative (BARI)
Danai Toursoglou Papalexandridou is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Boston Area Research Initiative (BARI) at the School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs. Danai’s research and action goal is to identify and further enhance the impact of community processes on environmental justice. She creates bridges among academia, communities and city actors while deploying action-research methodologies based on commoning and memory theories. As part of the process she leverages diverse forms of art, existent in the territories of study. Additionally to academic publications and reports, the outcomes of her work include a song, a performance, a community weave, a short documentary and a community-written book. As part of the Common Senses project, she will support collective processes among academia, community and the city of Boston towards the establishment and management of a network of climate sensors along Blue Hill Ave- the common use of community data and the co-creation of solutions towards environmental justice.
Danai completed her PhD in Spatial Planning and Development and her MSc in Architecture at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece). She has collaborated with diverse research groups, NGOs and community organizations in Europe, USA and Colombia.
