Registration via myNortheastern begins several months prior to the beginning of the semester and generally runs through the second week of classes. Fall registration begins as early as six months prior to the start of classes. The exact dates are listed on the Registrar’s website. Students may add or drop classes via myNortheastern. Please be aware of the posted deadlines and tuition refund schedule. It is expected that students register prior to the start of the semester to ensure their required and/or elective courses of choice have available space. Students can add and drop courses up to the end of the second week of classes.
Continuing students should register for fall semester courses by August 1 to avoid possible cancelation, if currently enrolled, in the Northeastern University health plan (NUSHP) for the upcoming academic year, as well as billing and tuition remission issues, if applicable.

A student working on his or her thesis or dissertation must be registered for Continuation until the thesis or dissertation is submitted. If the thesis or dissertation is submitted in the summer term, summer registration is required.
Directed Study and Reading Courses
Students who wish to register for a directed study or reading course refer to the Forms link to view the process and ensure a contract is approved prior to the start of the semester.
Please visit the academic calendars site which show withdrawal dates and refer to the official withdrawal and tuition refund rates. Log into your myNortheastern account to drop your class. The last day to drop courses (with or without “W” grades) is listed on the Registrar’s website.
