The Falmouth Historical Society has awarded Distinguished Professor of History, Emeritus William Fowler the 2019 Katherine Lee Bates Historian Award. Named for Katherine Lee Bates, author of “America the Beautiful,” and a native of Falmouth, the award recognizes significant contributions to the field of history. It is presented annually to an educator, author or historian to honor their work in the fields of historical scholarship and teaching.
