The Northeastern Humanities Center invites applications to support special events, conferences, and programs during the coming 2022-23 academic year. Events or programs may be funded for up to $5,000 each; applications for co-sponsored programs are encouraged.
About the Events & Programs Fund
Humanities Center events and programs aim to bring together organizers and audiences from different disciplines, both within and beyond the Northeastern community. We welcome collaborative proposals that engage the Boston and wider public as participants or audiences; events of interest to graduate and/or undergraduate students across disciplines; programs with a global component; events that offer a distinctive humanistic perspective on the major NU research themes of health, security, and sustainability; and events that speak to the 2022-2023 Humanities Center Fellows’ theme of “Re-imagining/Re-forming”
We are happy to receive applications from members of other Northeastern colleges and applications that include partners from other universities or organizations in Boston and beyond. Please indicate if any such partners are committed or potential.
Applications should identify program organizers, including at least one CSSH full-time faculty member; break down budget requests; and indicate the number of people the event is expected to reach. Appropriate budget requests include such items as speaker expenses, publicity materials, and food; please note that university policy prohibits the funding of stipends for any Northeastern employee.
Funded events may have access to space in Renaissance Park and staff support, if available, for assistance with technology, the creation of marketing materials, and event promotion or coordination. Should your proposed program be funded, we ask that you acknowledge “the Northeastern Humanities Center” on all of your publicity materials. We will publicize all events on the Center website.
The Humanities Center Board expects to provide notification on all applications by the end of March.
