What Kate Marple Read

Kate has taught Nonprofit Communications.

This summer she read hat the Eyes Don’t See: A Story of Crisis, Resistance and Hope in an American City. This book is by author Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha who exposed the Flint water crisis in 2015. While it’s a story about what happened in one city, it connects the dots in larger ways to how the loss of democracy directly correlates to social and public health crises in this country and around the world. And it beautifully weaves together Dr. Hanna-Attisha’s personal story as an Iraqi immigrant with how the people of Flint are fighting for their city and their kids. It’s the rare non-fiction book that reads like narrative.
