“During my Dialogue in Zambia, I spent a lot of time around children. I also frequently work with kids in the US so it was incredible to see the similarities between children around the world. I hope this image captures that: regardless of economic circumstance, cultural background, or geographic location, children play and learn in the same ways.
My experience in Zambia was eye-opening in a number of ways. I went in expecting to learn a lot about the region and international non-profit work, which I certainly did, but I also spent a lot of time learning about myself. I like that this photograph captures a seemingly introspective moment for the young boy in the foreground, because it’s a representation of my experience on the trip. It suggests that it’s okay to take some time alone to relax, process, or just enjoy the view.”
