The Connecticut Psychological Association’s Monthly Social Justice Seminar

The Connecticut Psychological Association hosts a monthly social justice seminar. The December seminar will be presented by Dr. Jacob Eleazer on healing psychological trauma for transgender, nonbinary, and gender expansive veterans and service members. Please join us for this free virtual event on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 7:30 pm EST.

Dr. Eleazer (he/him) will provide information about the current and historical policy context for transgender, nonbinary, and gender expansive (TNBGE) U.S. Service Members and Veterans. This seminar will identify harms perpetuated by mental health practitioners and the mental health profession against TNBGE Service Members and Veterans and clarify the role of psychologists as advocates in both clinical settings and public health policy. This seminar will provide tools to assess and disrupt the impact of healthcare discrimination, microaggressions, and other minority stressors on TNBGE persons’ wellbeing, clinical presentation, and engagement in care. Participants will also learn how to assess and minimize the impact of cisnormativity, cissexism, and/or internalized transphobia on clinical practice and advocacy efforts.
