Our Ethos

We believe that when we insert ourselves into someone else’s life or community intending to effect change, we accept the responsibility to:

  • Honor and respect every human being’s value, dignity, rights, and autonomy.
  • Do no harm. Good intentions do not absolve us of the unintended consequences that can result from uninformed actions.
  • Check our power and privilege, earn our seat at the table, and follow the leadership and wisdom of the people closest to the problem.
  • Listen and learn with humility so we can understand the systemic complexity of the problem and the lived experience of those it affects.
  • Work collaboratively, respectfully, and inclusively in community with all stakeholders.
  • Hold ourselves accountable for results.
  • Steward the resources entrusted to us responsibly and transparently.
  • Recognize the ethical implications of controlling scarce resources in the face of immense need.
