Final Workshop on Jews in Muslim and Shared Diasporic Lands took place April 3, 2022.

The third and final Workshop on Jews in Muslim and Shared Diasporic Lands, convened by Professor William Miles (Northeastern-Political Science; front row, second from left) and Professor Alan Verskin (University of Rhode Island-History; front row, far left) was held on the Northeastern campus on Sunday, April 3, 2022.  The theme of this culminating Workshop (with support from the Department of Music and the Jewish Studies Program) was Jewish Music in Muslim Lands. The Workshop featured Bennington College ethnomusicologist Professor Joseph Alpar (second row, far right) who both lectured and performed works from Turkey, Syria, Yemen and Morocco. The Workshop series was sponsored by the American Academy of Jewish Research.
