Looking Forward: Spring 2019 in Jewish Studies
- Professor Lori Lefkovitz and Dr. Elan Ezrachi will be leading a Dialogue of Civilizations to Israel during summer 1 session, 2019. Applications are due January 15, 2019.
- Holocaust and Genocide Awareness Week will take place April 2-4, 2019. The Morton Lecture is scheduled for April 2 at 7:30 pm with guest speaker Omer Bartov, John P. Birkelund Distinguished Professor of European History and Professor of German Studies at Brown University. Prof. Bartov recently published Anatomy of a Genocide: The Life and Death of a Town Called Buczacz.
- On January 27, 2019 the Jewish Studies Program, with co-sponsorship from Northeastern University Libraries and the Holocaust and Genocide Awareness Committee, will screen the film “Who Will Write Our History.” This film tells the story of the Warsaw Ghetto clandestine group Oyneg Shabes, and the archive they created to preserve their history. More information on the film can be found here: http://whowillwriteourhistory.com/about-the-film/. The screening will be part of a Global Screening Event on International Holocaust Remembrance Day. - Scholarship Opportunities:
- Applications for the Ruderman Scholarship for fall 2019 and the Gideon Klein Scholarship for 2019-2020 are now being accepted.
- Travel grants are available for Northeastern undergraduates wishing to attend the Undergraduate Jewish Studies Conference on February 17 at Yale.
