The Jewish Studies Program offers students a variety of ways to explore the history, cultures, and religion of the Jewish people. A broadly interdisciplinary field, Jewish studies includes courses in history, music, literature, political science, international affairs, sociology, gender studies, religion, philosophy, and modern languages; classes cover the Jewish experience in Diaspora communities around the world and Israel. Through these classes, students investigate important subjects such as identity, assimilation, culture, religion, and social justice and acquire the tools of analysis and the knowledge for a more critical understanding of the religious and secular world around them. We welcome non-majors to take any of our classes, seek out a co-op or internship, or study abroad with us in Israel, Poland, or Germany. Those interested in exploring the Jewish experience further may declare a Jewish studies minor, a combined major, or an independent major in Jewish Studies.
