Project Description
The Assistant Director of the Writing Program supports the program’s instructional mission as a Writing Program leadership team member. Reporting to the Writing Program Director, the Assistant Director attends all meetings of the Writing Program Directors and Writing Program Committee and works with the committee on all matters under its purview, including writing program policies, faculty development, curriculum, assessment, and other pedagogical issues for all required writing courses and for the Writing Center. The Assistant Director facilitates a range of efforts, such as collecting and analyzing data, coordinating peer instructor visits, developing and maintaining the Writing Program Instructor Sourcebook and the Writing Program website, overseeing the undergraduate production of NU Writing, and helping the First-Year Writing Director and Director of Advanced Writing in the Disciplines with special projects as needed. Additionally, the Assistant Director plays a key role in maintaining the Graduate Student Mentor Program, facilitating graduate student instructor training and development, and managing the Writing Program SharePoint. The Assistant Director is also responsible for managing the Writing Program calendar and email accounts and is expected to be responsive to email throughout the week. As a part of these duties, the Assistant Director will track the concerns of instructors and bring important issues to the attention of the Writing Program Director and the Writing Program Committee.
