PhD Research Assistant - Transnational Political Networks and the Future of Global Order
The PhD student research assistant will engage in archival, media content, data, and literature review research in support of Professor Mai'a Cross's book project on EU grand strategy, which is under contract with Oxford University Press. The student will also help with tasks related to finalizing the book manuscript, including copy-editing and compiling reference lists as well as preparation of diagrams and tables. Meetings will be held remotely over the summer, with weekly or bi-weekly guidance from Professor Cross. Additional research beyond the book project related to other case studies will be part of these summer research activities. All research will be related to Prof Cross's Carnegie-funded project, "Transnational Political Networks and the Future of Global Order." Project Description
Transnational political networks – groups of individuals who transcend national boundaries – are major forces shaping global order, even despite great power competition. They have championed groundbreaking ideas for international cooperation across a wide range of issue areas, such as climate change, nuclear weapons, outer space, and artificial intelligence. This project aims to break new ground in the investigation of transnational political networks (at both the societal and elite levels) through its focus on the types of networks that matter and how they gain influence.
