Research Assistant - Digital Transgender Archive
Professor K.J. Rawson (English and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies) seeks to hire 1-2 Graduate Research Assistants to support the Digital Transgender Archive (www.digitaltransgenderarchive.net) project. The people in these positions will collaborate on researching new materials, selecting items for digitization, processing new items for our collections, and overseeing the lab. The focus of this effort will be on trans BIPOC collections so students with experience or expertise in this area are particularly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
- Assessing and evaluating the current collections on the Digital Transgender Archive (DTA)
- Researching trans-related collections at contributing institutions and evaluating digitization possibilities
- Processing materials for the DTA collections
- Recruiting, training, and overseeing undergraduate students working in the lab
- Contributing to social media content and engagement for the DTA

The purpose of the Digital Transgender Archive (DTA) is to increase the accessibility of transgender history by providing an online hub for digitized historical materials, born-digital materials, and information on archival holdings throughout the world. Qualifications Necessary
Currently funded doctoral students in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities are eligible to apply. Required qualifications: –Strong communication skills –Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment –Attention to detail –Self-motivation for independent work –Familiarity with LGBTQ+ issues and passion for LGBTQ+ history, particularly LGBTA+ BIPOC history Desired qualifications: –Knowledge of best practices for digital archives To apply, please send a CV and description of your interest and experience to K.J.
