The College of Social Sciences and Humanities honored the winners of the 2017 CSSH Outstanding Staff Awards at the CSSH Faculty and Staff Celebration on Thursday, April 20. The winners of this year’s CSSH Outstanding Staff Awards are:

Melissa Daigle, Graduate and Media Coordinator, Department of English
Melissa excels in her role, which is primarily focused on media and public outreach. Melissa has been a key contributor to the “Student Pathways” project, which was created in English and has since become a college-wide outreach model. As a nominator notes, Melissa has “done the bulk of the work on this project, including site design, writing, organization, coordinating interviews, and film editing.” Melissa is a great example of a colleague who demonstrates foresight, thoughtfulness, and initiative.

Bethany Hall, Director of Academic Student Services, Undergraduate Academic Advising
In her leadership role, Bethany has provided exceptional support to students, staff, parents, administrators, and faculty. As a supervisor, Bethany helps develop her staff both professionally and personally, and is a positive and empowering force for those with whom she works. She exhibits great leadership qualities and is compassionate and encouraging. As one nominator writes, “I feel confident and comfortable in the office each day knowing Bethany is my advocate and that she cares for me as a whole individual.”

Kiki Samko, Program Coordinator, Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program
Kiki has played a major role in the growth and ongoing success of the Woman’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies Program. She has been extremely successful in the coordination of events and the program’s annual symposium. Kiki excels in effectively working with students, faculty, and staff. As one nominator puts it, “Kiki really does stand out in a crowded field for her maturity, poise, and investment in the success of the program for which she is responsible.”

The awards are the second annual recognition awards from the College of Social Sciences and Humanities Staff Advisory Council. The Council was created to advise the Dean’s Office on issues impacting staff and is focusing this year on staff development initiatives.
