“Our Marathon”

Joanne Afornalli with Professor Ryan Cordell

“Our Marathon”

Spring 2015

Joanne (English) has worked with Professor Cordell (English) as an undergraduate research assistant on the Our Marathon digital archive project. As the lead for the project’s community outreach, Joanne has established connections throughout the community, coordinated the “Share Your Story” events, and orchestrated the Our Marathon Photo Contest. The Undergraduate Research Initiative grant allowed Joanne to present best practices for public digital humanities projects such as Our Marathon, and the role that community building can play in these projects, at the Bucknell Digital Scholarship Conference. For Joanne, who entered the English PlusOne program in the spring 2015 semester, this was a valuable first experience presenting at an academic conference.
