Chris Gallagher

Chris Gallagher has published widely on the teaching and assessment of writing and on educational innovation at both the K-12 and higher education levels. He is author or co-author of five books and many articles in writing studies and education journals. His most recent book is College Made Whole: Integrative Learning for a Divided World (Johns Hopkins University Press). Gallagher has held numerous administrative positions at Northeastern, including Writing Program director; Associate Dean of Teaching, Learning and Experiential education in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities; Vice Provost for Curriculum Innovation; and Vice Chancellor for Global Learning Opportunities.  He teaches courses in writing and pedagogy at every level of the curriculum, from first-year writing to graduate seminars on topics such as “Writing and Community Engagement” and “Composing in the 21st Century.” At the same time, he is active in the community, particularly in partnership with 826 Boston (a youth writing program in Roxbury). He was a founding member of the Boston Rhetoric and Writing Network.
