Assistant Teaching Professor of Human Services and Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies

Margot Abels has a joint appointment in the Human Services and Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies programs. After many years of professional work in the public health and public education fields, she completed her doctorate at Northeastern. Her scholarly work is rooted in medical sociology and inequality studies; it is interdisciplinary, interpretive and designed to influence application, practice, and social change.

    WMNS/HIST/SOCL 2303

    Introduces the social, legal, and economic barriers to accessing reproductive healthcare domestically and internationally. Draws on various theoretical and analytic tools including critical race theory, critical legal theory, sociology of science, human rights, feminist theory, and a range of public health methods. Covers domestic, regional, and international legal and regulatory frameworks on sexual reproductive health.
