Graduate Program & Communications Coordinator (English)
In addition to managing department social media and website administration, Heather handles all areas dealing with the English MA and PhD programs, working closely with the Graduate Program Director in the development and implementation of academic policies and procedures, student support services, graduate recruitment, and program administration. She is the primary contact for any prospective graduate students seeking program or application information and is happy to connect applicants to current students and department faculty upon request.
Heather began her career at Northeastern in 2018 as the Administrative Assistant to the English Department and moved into her current role in 202o. In 2021, she earned her master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from Northeastern, with particular interests in assets-based student development theories, the corporatization of the academy, and supports for minoritized and marginalized students. She prides herself on leveraging her power as an institutional “insider” to advocate for students and to partner with faculty to holistically enhance the student experience through a student-centered approach. She is motivated by her personal history as a first-generation, low-income student and larger societal forces threatening higher education’s position as a public good. In her free time, Heather enjoys cooking vegan food, playing instruments, hoarding houseplants, and obsessing over her mischievous cat.
