Recent Grants and Awards

Director Matthias Ruth, associate professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering Mehrdad Sasani and assistant professors of Civil and Environmental Engineering David Fannon and Matthew Eckelman were awarded a $1.1 million National Science Foundation grant for “A Decision and Design Framework for Multi-Hazard Resilient and Sustainable Buildings.” This three-year grant will focus on developing “a deci­sion frame­work for designing build­ings that are both resilient and sus­tain­able in the face of mul­tiple hazards—specifically, earth­quakes, flooding and high winds.”

 

Professor of Management, Healthcare Systems and Health Policy, Timothy Hoff and Gary Young (D’Amore-McKim School of Business) received a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to research payment reform in healthcare. The grant was awarded through the Foundation’s Changes in Health Care Financing and Organization program, which was created to support research, demonstration and evaluation projects that examine major changes in healthcare financing.

 

Director Matthias Ruth, with fellow Northeastern faculty professor Guevara Noubir and associate professor Kristian Kloeckl, received a Tier 1 Seed Grant for their proposal, “Institutional Data and Energy Flows: Revealing Drivers of Urban Energy Consumption Through Remote Sensing, Real-Time Systems Data Analysis, Dynamic Modeling and Data Visualization.”
