Note: Jason Desrosier graduated spring 2014.

Jason, then a second-year student in the Master of Urban and Regional Policy program, spent the summer working on the Whittier Street Choice grant program for the Boston Housing Authority. His work was focused on engaging residents, particularly youth in the area, in creating a community-driven plan, revitalizing public housing and transforming the Whittier Street neighborhood. Jason helped create and disseminate a community-wide survey and also organized focus groups to poll youth on their opinions of the community. Low survey responses and turnout to focus groups led Jason to create a set of best practices for working with youth in the future for the BHA.

As a result of his internship experience Jason is now a Program Director for DREAM, a mentoring organization that pairs college students with youth from affordable housing neighborhoods. Jason will work on expanding the organization’s reach throughout Boston.
