People in this story

The College of Social Sciences and Humanities celebrated the Class of 2025 with a memorable commencement ceremony, featuring the Honorable Roderick Ireland as a faculty speaker. A distinguished jurist and former Chief Justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, Judge Ireland brought wisdom, warmth, and perspective to the ceremony, marking a special moment for the CSSH community.

Following the event, Judge Ireland shared a message for the graduates

“Congratulations on all your hard work! As you go forward I hope that you will remember the three Life Lessons that I shared with you at your graduation: Lesson 1 – Be Humble and temper your future success with kindness and a moral conscience; Lesson 2 – Be Prepared and be thorough and ethical in your work, as your reputation is built on preparation and integrity; and Lesson 3 – Make a Difference and do what you can as in the ‘Power of One.’ Continue to grow and learn. I wish you only the very best, and I expect from you, only your very best.”
With warm and kind regards, Judge Ireland.

As graduates step forward into the next chapter of their journey, his words serve as a lasting reminder of the values that define CSSH.
