This year we had the pleasure of collaborating on an innovative pilot initiative with KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm to host a Nordic Hub of the SCORAI 2020 Conference along with the Boston hub hosted by Northeastern University.
Due to disruptions and risks associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, we are moving the conference to an all online remote program. We are grateful to have the opportunity to transition to a fully digital conference format that will reduce our collective consumption while preserving vitally important sharing of ideas. The conference sessions will be accessible to all who register – all that is needed is access to high-speed internet connection. We are developing creative ideas to preserve a sense of open discourse and celebration of community as we move to a virtual format.

“How do you make a conference digital, but more than just a videocall?
SCORAI 2020 aims to be a pilot project that demonstrates how to make a scientific conference digital, lowering the number of flights for participants (especially intercontinental), but keeping the social and networking aspects of a conference. In addition to the scientific presentations both in plenary and parallel sessions, we aim to have interactive message boards and connected coffee breaks, enabling social interaction even in a time of a physical distancing.
