Journalism alumna pens front page story on Civil Rights cold case

Journalism alumna Alexa Mills, MA’16, recently published a front-page story for The Washington Post on the lynching of Pvt. Felix Hall, the only known lynching on a US military base. Mills’s work comes from more than a year of research, part of which was done as part of her course work in the School of Journalism’s Media Innovation program. Her previous work also shows a commitment to reporting on forgotten killings from the Jim Crow era, and Mills believes there remain many stories of black men and women failed by the justice system that still need to be told.
