Prof. Sarah Jackson discusses student activism with the Christian Science Monitor

Assistant Professor of Communication Studies and WGSS Executive Committee member Sarah Jackson was quoted in the Christian Science Monitor on the internet activism of students at Boston Latin School. Female students from Boston Latin called attention to the racial discrimination at the school in January, prompting an investigation by the US Attorney’s office. Jackson discusses how internet activism is often headed by young women, from the founders of BlackLivesMatter to the recent proliferation of hashtags about issues such as racial discrimination and rape on college campuses.
