A victory and an uncertain future at Standing Rock

Following the announcement from the Department of the Army last week that the Dakota Oil Pipeline would not be allowed to be drilled under a section of the Mississippi River, the future of the project has remained unclear, especially given its support from President-elect Donald Trump. Three faculty members – Professor of Political Science and Co-Director of the Security and Resilience Program Daniel P. Aldrich, Assistant Professor of Communication Studies and WGSS Executive Committee member Sarah Jackson, and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, Diversity and Inclusion, and Dean’s Professor of Civic Sustainability Ellen Cushman – talked to Northeastern News about the complexity of the situation and what was missing from media coverage.
