Sarah Jackson on Athletics and Activism

The recent debate over NFL players taking a knee during the National Anthem has sparked discussion surrounding athletes and activism. In a piece for the Northeastern News, WGSS executive committee member and Assistant Professor of Communications Studies Sarah J. Jackson commented, “Black celebrities are in a unique position when it comes to politics because they become spokespeople for the entire black population, whether they want to or not.
