Beginning July 1st, 2024, Professor K.J. Rawson (English & WGSS) will begin a 5-year term as the next Director of the Humanities Center. Rawson is an accomplished scholar in digital humanities and LGBTQ+ studies. As the founder and director of the Digital Transgender Archive, Rawson has contributed to preserving and promoting access to transgender history.

The Humanities Center has a long history of feminist leadership including its founding by WGSS faculty member Carla Kaplan (English, WGSS, CSGS) in 2008. From 2013-2022, the Humanities Center was led by long-time WGSS executive committee member and feminist scholar Lori Lefkovitz (English & Jewish Studies), and then by Professor Angel Nieves (History, CSGS, affiliated in WGSS), who tragically passed away last year. The Center has been under the interim direction of Lori Lefkovitz since his passing.
