WITNESS TO THE COLLAPSE: seeing through photographs — Presentation and Q&A with Francesco Bellina

Francesco Bellina, an award winning photojournalist based in Palermo, will be discussing “the complex web of factors that shape human mobility along African territories.” His fieldwork covers migrant communities, the first landings of sub-Saharan refugees, and the relationship between these communities and Sicilian neighborhoods in Palermo. His photographs focus on the “humanity” of each subject.

Bellina’s work focuses broadly on contemporary socio-political issues and specifically on migration and climate issues. It has been published in major news outlets including The Guardian, Al Jazeera, The Globe and Mail, and many more. Bellina also contributes to UNHCR, WHO, and other NGOs. His discussion and presentation will be followed by a Q&A.
