Academic advising is an ongoing process that engages students in educational planning consistent with their academic interests as well as with their personal, intellectual, and career goals. This student-centered advising process involves an active partnership among students, academic advisors, undergraduate program advisors, and co-op coordinators.
Office of Student Academic Affairs
Located in 180 Renaissance Park, the Office of Student Academic Affairs is a central place where undergraduate students in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities can go with all academic questions. This office is a good first place to go for any kind of academic concern. Academic advisors provide general guidance on academic matters and assist students in their progress from orientation through graduation.
Undergraduate Program Advisor
Located in each academic department, undergraduate program advisors mentor students and function as the student’s main connection with the major.
Since the WGSS program is not a major, the program director and program coordinator function in a similar capacity to the undergraduate academic and program advisors in major departments. Students interested in WGSS courses or the WGSS undergraduate minor should speak to the academic advisor in their own major and to the WGSS program coordinator in 263 Holmes Hall or by phone at 617.373.4984. Students who wish to declare a minor in WGSS should complete the online minor declaration form. If you have questions about the WGSS minor that cannot be answered by the program coordinator, please get in touch with Professor Suzanna Walters, program director.
Co-op Coordinator
Co-op coordinators assist students throughout their time at Northeastern in preparing for, navigating, and reflecting on the co-op process. The WGSS program does not have a co-op coordinator.
