Caroline Lowder is the Summer 2/Fall 2019 Program Assistant for WGSS and the Editorial Intern for Signs: Journal of Women in Culture and Society. Currently a junior at Northeastern, Caroline is on track to get a degree in English and Media Studies, with minors in Graphic Design, Writing, and Ethics.
Caroline’s interest in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality studies is rooted in a desire to understand further the impact of feminist rhetoric and semiotics. Throughout the Fall semester, Caroline plans to research feminist signage in the context of protests occurring between January 2017 to the present day in order to gain a better understanding of what constitutes effective communication and community building.
Thus far, Caroline has greatly enjoyed getting a first hand look at the editorial process through her work with Signs and at what it takes to prepare for the busy school year ahead. She is excited to delve deeper into the inner workings of academic publication and organizing departmental events.
