China: From West to East

Description:
Students will spend 5 weeks in Kunming and 3 nights in Beijing. Kunming and Beijing are famous international cities in East Asia for its economic successes. Hence, within this one program, students will have the opportunity to experience variations of Chinese culture across distinctively different regions, governmental structures, and differing Chinese cultural customs.

Challenges in Contemporary France: Immigration, Diversity, and Integration

Description:
This Dialogue of Civilizations program takes place at the Université Catholique de Lyon, a university in the heart of France, followed by a cultural visit to Paris. In this program, students will be taking courses and participating in cultural excursions and events in the beautiful city of Lyon. The program ends with a visit to the city of lights: Paris. The dialogue provides a total immersion in the language, interactions with the locals, and an understanding of ongoing social and political events.

Argentina and Uruguay: Spanish Language and Culture

Description:
Dive into the Spanish Language through this once in a lifetime dialogue! Immerse yourself in the Argentinean and Uruguayan Culture while visiting Buenos Aires, El Calafate (Patagonia) in Argentina, Montevideo, and Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay. Participate in an Architectural Tour of the city of Buenos Aires. Learn about the tango and its influence in Argentina’s culture. Take a City Tour to get to know the city and its different neighborhoods. Take a guided tour of the Teatro Colón, the second most important Opera Concert House in the world. Visit Tigre and its delta, Montevideo and Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay, a World Heritage site recognized by the UNESCO. Visit El Ateneo Gran Splendid bookstore, a real gem located in the old theatre that retains all the glory of an Italian opera house. Visit a ranch in the outskirts of Buenos Aires, Estancia Don Silvano in Capilla del Señor and experience the gaucho’s life & folklore. In Patagonia, visit the Parque Nacional los Glaciares and trek the Glaciar Perito Moreno. Volunteer at TAMA, an animal shelter where you will learn about about the importance of helping abandoned and abused dogs in South America that live in deplorable conditions, with no roof or heating, enduring severe winters. Then, broadcasting in two radio stations to raise awareness of the importance of respecting and taking care of animals. Participate in a “candombe” & “murga” workshops in Montevideo, Uruguay and visit a dairy farm in the outskirts of Colonia del Sacramento and learn how to make several varieties of cheeses and “dulce de leche”.
