What excites you about working at the Writing Center? I really love working at the Writing Center because of the variety of writing that I am exposed to. I think that the perfect job is something where you get to learn something new every day and working at the Writing Center allows me to do that! I really enjoy getting to meet different clients and read/critique different genres of work.
What’s been surprising to you? What’s been most surprising is the range of work that I’ve been exposed to. I’ve worked on everything from a resume/cover letters to poetry to master’s theses and PhD dissertations. I never expected to be exposed to such a range of work!
What skills do you bring as a tutor? I have a wide range of experience working with different student populations from freshman all the way to doctoral candidates. I talk through grammatical/content issues and work very collaboratively with students to help them get what’s in their head onto the paper in front of them.
Anything else you’d like us to know? In 2019, I realized that you aren’t supposed to put two spaces after the period when you type.
