The College of Social Sciences and Humanities is pleased to announce the winners of the 2023 Excellence in Work to Foster Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) Awards. The winners will be recognized at the Faculty and Staff Celebration on Tuesday, April 4 at 4:30 – 6:30 pm on the 17th floor of East Village.
The winners of this year’s Excellence in Work to Foster DEIB Awards are:
Kelliann Henry – Assistant Director of Undergraduate Student Engagement

Kelliann Henry has dedicated herself to promoting DEIB and improving the student experience within CSSH, specifically for students from marginalized backgrounds. She is committed to making sure that these students feel represented on campus and are awarded the same opportunities as other students. This has been demonstrated with her involvement in the CSSH peer mentor program, the Summer Bridge Scholars Program, and the First Generation/Low Income community on campus. Students describe her as “passionate and driven,” having a “big heart,” and the “epitome of excellence in leadership.”
Régine Jean-Charles – Director of Africana Studies, Dean’s Professor of Culture and Social Justice, and Professor of Africana Studies and Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies

Régine Jean-Charles exemplifies what it means to be a champion for diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in words and practice. She co-leads Northeastern’s Black Faculty and Staff Association and the working group on research on race. She is a highly effective mentor of faculty and students. And she is a prominent organizer of and speaker in university and community discussions on racial justice issues with a deep commitment to Black feminism and intersectional lenses.
Megha Prasad – Undergraduate Student
Political Science & Business Administration combined major
Megha Prasad is an impactful student leader who has demonstrated a strong commitment to advocating for the Asian American community on campus. She helped redesign the Northeastern Growth and Opportunity for Asian Leaders Program (NUGOAL) to focus on identity-building and leadership development, advocated for community support and resources following headlines about racist and violent acts towards Asian Americans, and has helped to foster collaboration between the Asian American Center (AAC) and the Global Asian Studies Program.
