Call for Proposals: Events and Programs, 2023 – 2024
The Northeastern Humanities Center Call for Proposals: Events and Programs, 2023 – 2024
Dear Faculty in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH): The Northeastern Humanities Center invites applications to support special events, conferences, and programs during the coming 2023-24 academic year. Events or programs may be funded for up to $5,000 each; applications for co-sponsored programs are especially welcome. Humanities Center events and programs aim to bring together organizers and audiences from different disciplines, both within and beyond the Northeastern community. We encourage collaborative proposals that engage the Boston and wider publics as participants or audiences; events of interest to graduate and/or undergraduate students across disciplines; programs with a global component; events that offer a distinctive humanistic perspective on the major NU research themes of health, security, and sustainability; and events that speak to the 2023-2024 Humanities Center Fellows’ theme of “World Making/World Building.”
Applications should identify program organizers, including at least one (1) CSSH full-time faculty member; break down budget requests; and indicate the number of people the event is expected to reach. Appropriate budget requests include such items as speaker expenses or honorariums; please note that university policy prohibits the funding of stipends for any Northeastern employee. Funded events may, if available, have access to space in Renaissance Park, the creation of marketing materials, event promotion and event planning support. Should your proposed program be funded, we ask that you acknowledge “Northeastern University Humanities Center” on all of your publicity materials, including the Humanities Center logo on all posters and public advertisements.
Please submit your application no later than Tuesday, May 23rd.
We hope to provide notification on all applications by Tuesday, June 6th. If you have any questions, please contact me at a.nieves@northeastern.edu. A sub-committee of the Humanities Center Board looks forward to receiving your proposals.
Thank you,
Angel Nieves
Director, Northeastern Humanities Center
