On Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at 12 p.m. ET, CSSH will host a Cybersecurity Policy discussion with Barrett Adams-Simmons, Department of Homeland Security Senior Cybersecurity Policy Advisor. This event is an opportunity to ask questions and engage in a dialogue with a Department of Homeland Security Senior Cybersecurity Policy Advisor that has been engaged with cybersecurity policy development from the highest levels at the National Security Council – then went into the field and has been engaging directly with critical infrastructure owner and operators and state, local, tribal, and territorial at an operational level.  Ms. Adams-Simmons worked in the Secretary of Homeland Security’s Office of Policy as a senior policy advisor addressing issues ranging from advanced persistent threats to include mitigation efforts and international negotiations to responsible vulnerability disclosure policy.  Working closely with law enforcement – both Federal and local – is critical to understand policy development.  Before working for Homeland Security, she graduated from the United States Naval Academy with an engineering degree and eventually worked in the Pentagon developing critical infrastructure policy focused on energy security and industrial control systems.
