Yafeng Wang

Assistant Teaching Professor

Yafeng Wang is an Assistant Teaching Professor at Northeastern University, holding a joint appointment with the College of Social Sciences and Humanities and the College of Engineering. Before joining Northeastern, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Rock Ethics Institute at Penn State University and later at the Institute of Philosophy at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He earned his PhD in Philosophy from Stanford University.

Wang’s research interests primarily revolve around the philosophy of science and technology. His earlier work focuses on the methodologies employed by accident investigators to identify the causes of significant engineering failures, such as aviation accidents. Additionally, he is interested in exploring how social and ethical values can be integrated into the engineering design process, as well as examining the broader impact of emerging technologies on mental health.
