Join us at Northeastern University’s Social Impact Lab on Thursday, December 8 from 5:30 – 7:30PM for a panel discussion on how change happens with leading anti-poverty organization Oxfam, along with changemakers from academia, civil society, art and media. The panel will be moderated by Rebecca Riccio, Director of Social Impact Lab.
Inspired by Ducan Green’s new book How Change Happens, which explores how political and social change takes place, panelists will discuss the role of individuals and organizations in influencing that change.
The event is free and open to the whole campus community and the public.
PANELISTS INCLUDE:
Duncan Green – Oxfam Senior Strategic Advisor.
Frances Moore Lappé – author or co-author of 18 books about world hunger, living democracy, and the environment, including the three-million copy Diet for a Small Planet in 1971. Other books include Democracy’s Edge, Getting a Grip, EcoMind, and, most recently, World Hunger: 10 Myths. She is the cofounder of three national organizations.
Kecia Ali – Researcher on Islamic law, women and gender, ethics, and biography. Author of Sexual Ethics and Islam: Feminist Reflections on Qur’an, Hadith, and Jurisprudence, Marriage and Slavery in Early Islam, Imam Shafi‘i: Scholar and Saint, and The Lives of Muhammad.
