Philip Moniz

Postdoctoral Research Associate, Political Science

Philip Moniz studies political psychology, political behavior, and American politics. His overarching interest in political science is in understanding to what extent political information can foster better governance. In this vein, his research explores the roles of information and social identity in how citizens perceive social problems and form political attitudes. Other research focuses on political elites, specifically the provision of privately sponsored travel to members of Congress. He also has an interest in experimental survey methodology. Before studying political science, Philip’s first love was film, earning a BS in Film and Television from Boston University. Philip got his introduction to political science through an MA in Political Science from Central European University and then went on to get a PhD in Government from the University of Texas at Austin.
