Scott M. Kirwin is Deputy General Counsel of Cetera Financial Group, one of the nation’s largest networks of independently managed broker-dealers. In his current role, Mr. Kirwin and his team have legal responsibility for Cetera’s Workplace & Retirement Services division, as well as Cetera’s advisory products and platforms. Prior to joining Cetera, Mr. Kirwin held a variety of roles in the legal department of Fidelity Investments, most recently serving as Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, where he acted as Chief Legal Officer for Fidelity’s retail and intermediary registered investment advisers. Earlier in his career, Mr. Kirwin was in private practice with Ropes & Gray LLP, where his work focused on the representation of mutual funds, private funds and registered investment advisers. Mr. Kirwin also serves as an adjunct professor at Boston University, where he teaches Financial Regulation and Ethics in the Masters of Administration and Finance programs. Mr. Kirwin earned a J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2001, where he was Executive Editor of the Harvard Human Rights Journal. He received a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Northeastern University in 1998. He is a member of the Massachusetts State Bar and serves on the Board of Directors of Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, Massachusetts and is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Notre Dame Education Center in South Boston.
