International Consultant, UNICEF

Sharmila Kurukulasuriya, a Northeastern parent, is an international consultant currently working on a project with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in New York. She recently consulted for Save the Children and previously worked at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). With over 20 years of technical expertise, her work focuses on poverty, human development, and the multidimensional deprivations faced by children and adults. Sharmila specializes in policy analysis and statistics, addressing the challenges faced by decision-makers in diverse contexts across developing countries, as well as the needs and priorities of donors and the United Nations System. She holds a BA in Quantitative Economics from Tufts University and an MPA from Columbia University.
